Who is PaintMinion?

I'm Susan Wachowski and have won numerous online and local awards, 2 Golds from Gen Con 1998, and a Bronze from Chicago Games Day. I paint miniatures of all sizes, resin statues, busts, wedding toppers, and once I even painted a model race car--it was...interesting. SF, Fantasy, Horror, Modern, and Historical...I'm open to them all! You can check out more of my work on CMON.

Currently you'll find my work on the box covers of the Dark Sword Elmore Dragons, on the Thunderbolt Mountain site and at their convention booth, as well as Reaper Miniatures. I sell on eBay, do commission work from all over the globe, and that keeps me fairly busy. I enter a few contests these days, but not many. My big show is MMSI Chicago, but I also entered the Privateer Press competition at Gen Con this year, and will participate in iron painter on the Wyrd website. I just don't do much Games Workshop at all, so Games Days have fallen by the wayside. With the proper commission incentive, I might suffer the howling, ears-ringing chaos that is Games Day Chicago. ;-)

I am the Gen Con Volunteer Miniatures Hobby Events (MHE) Coordinator, which means I organize and manage the Miniatures Painting Competitions, Paint & Take, Speed Painting, Hobby Classes, Seminars and Demos for miniatures painting, sculpting and terrain making. I do this out of my love for the hobby and the joy of spreading it throughout the world! I have numerous volunteers that work by my side to showcase the best this hobby has to offer to Gen Con attendees, and am thankful for them every year!

I am the IMMPSChief of IMMPS (Illinoi/Midwest Mini Painters Society) that gathers almost every Friday in the Chicago suburbs. It's just a friendly group of people getting together to paint and chat and share. All painters are welcome, but space is limited so let me know you want to join us--check out IMMPS on Yahoo Groups.

You can find "PaintMinion" on eBay, CMON, TMP, Chest of Colors, Wyrd Forums, Reaper Forums, Privateer Press Forums, some Yahoo Groups, and Pay Pal.

IMMPS

The IMMPS (Illinois Midwest MIni Painter Society) is a group of friends that gather and paint every Friday possible. We cover the Chicagoland suburbs, and even have a few members further away. It is a private group, so we need to know you a bit before we invite you over to the house for Friday Paint Gathers. At meetings we are frequently in The Zone, discussing minis and paints, sharing techniques, offering advice, giving crits, and deciding what the heck we want for dinner. We have a privateYahoo Group where we organize who's coming, who needs rides, what we're bringing, and what we're eating. If you're interested and local, contact me for further information.

Who are the IMMPS?

Susan Wachowski, IMMPS Chief

Noel Meyer, aka skya

Noel Meyer took her first art class in grade school, and has been involved in art of one form or another ever since. She is a professional illustration artist, and has been painting miniatures since 1998, when Ken Carpenter of AEG commissioned her to do army demo figures after seeing the first miniature Noel ever painted. She has been improving steadily ever since.

A couple years ago, Noel was introduced to the Illinois/Midwest Mini Painting Society (IMMPS), where she had the opportunity to learn more advanced mini-painting techniques from the likes of Jen Hailey, Sue Wachowski and Anne Forester. Since then, she has become a truly competitive painter, and has won several awards, including a gold at the well-known Chicago Golden Demon contest run yearly by Games Workshop.

Examples of Noel's work can be seen at her website, http://skya.shadowdragon.net/.

George Mickelson, aka eastman

David Dresch

Scott Farris

Mark and Ananda Stevens

Honorary Members throughout the world...you know who you are! ..and more painters who, despite being official members, seem only figments of our imagination.

What is Sue Crew?

"Sue Crew" is the designation given to the volunteers I handle for Gen Con. With my volunteers I organize the MHE events: Miniatures Painting Competition, Hobby Classes, Seminars for Pro Sculptors and Pro Painters, Speed Painting, Demonstrations from leading hobbyists and products, and most notably, the ever popular Paint & Take.

The Crew has a private Yahoo Group, so if you are interested in volunteering, contributing, or giving classes, please contact me and we can discuss where you might fit in and the benefits of being part of my minions!
